Military brass bands are not composed of professional players: the Bersagliere enrolled to enter the service, most of the times was part of the brass band, with no other prerequisite than passion for music. This gave the idea of the initial difficulties and of the necessary dedication to training; a dedication supported by pride of being Bersagliere and in particular “Bersagliere of the brass band”.

Questo spirito bersaglieresco, nato quasi per caso il più delle volte non si esauriva con il congedo, ma continuava con le fanfare in congedo delle "sezioni bersaglieri". La passione per le "Piume al vento" accompagna per tutta la vita il suonatore. Ed è per questo motivo che molte fanfare in congedo annoverano fra i loro suonatori, persone che hanno oltre settant'anni ancora con il passo fermo e il labbro sicuro.

The band is exclusively composed of brass instruments, divided into four groups:

MELODY: Flugelhorn Eb – Trumpet Bb – Soprano Flugelhorn Bb

ACCOMPANIMENT: Alto Flugelhorn Eb – Trombone Bb

BASS TUBAS: Tubas F

COUNTER MELODY: Tenor Flugelhorn Bb – Euphonium Bb

This set of instruments is limiting the possibility to execute certain pieces, but at the same time, it enhances the unique characteristics of this particular kind of band: playing while running!
